Is This Normal?
Many people have a reaction after a collision.
For some, it settles within a few weeks. If any of these are still with you, it’s a good time to talk to someone.
Signs to watch for
- Avoiding driving, or riding as a passenger
- Nightmares or memories of the crash that won’t stop
- Poor sleep since the collision
- Pain or distress that outlasts your physical progress
- Low mood, irritability or pulling away from people
- Feeling on edge, jumpy or easily startled
- A slow or stalled return to work or school
Ask yourself
- Since the collision, are you avoiding driving or being a passenger?
- Are memories of the collision, or worry about it, affecting your sleep or your day?
- Is pain, mood or stress keeping you from work or your usual activities?
A yes to any of these is a good reason to reach out. These are check-in questions, not a diagnosis.
Collisions In Alberta
In Alberta, the date of the collision decides, not your policy date.
Collisions before January 1, 2027 stay under the current system. Collisions on or after that date fall under Care-First. Outside Alberta, your province’s auto insurance rules apply, and we’ll check your coverage with you on the free call.

How We Help
From first call to recovery.
- 1
Free call
Tell us what happened and what’s been hard since. We’ll explain your options under your insurance.
- 2
Assessment
Your therapist assesses what you need and prepares the plan or report your insurer asks for. Under Care-First, your doctor, a psychologist or a registered clinical social worker does the first mental health assessment.
- 3
Approved sessions
Once your insurer approves your plan, sessions begin. We bill your insurer directly.
- 4
Progress reports
We keep your insurer, and your lawyer or doctor with your consent, updated until you’re back on your feet.
Billing
We bill your auto insurer directly.
Once your insurer approves your treatment plan, we bill them directly, so you’re not paying out of pocket and waiting to be paid back.
In Alberta, for collisions before 2027, many of our clients also work with a personal injury lawyer. We share reports with your lawyer when you ask us to.

Questions
Therapy after a car accident.
I wasn’t badly hurt. Can I still get help?
Yes. Emotional and psychological injuries are real injuries, and they often show up after physical ones start to heal. Under Care-First, benefits include mental health conditions related to the collision.
Do I need a lawyer to see you?
No. For collisions before 2027, many clients have a lawyer, and we work with them. Under Care-First, most people claim directly through their own insurer without suing.
Will therapy cost me anything?
The first call is free. Once your insurer approves your plan, we bill them directly. If you’d like to start before approval, we’ll talk through options with you first.
I was a passenger, pedestrian or cyclist. Am I covered?
Often, yes. Under Care-First, if you don’t have your own auto insurance, you claim through the insurer of the vehicle you were in or the vehicle that hit you. For earlier collisions, ask us and we’ll help you find out.
The accident was a while ago. Is it too late?
Not necessarily. It depends on your claim and when it happened. Book a free call and we’ll help you work it out.
You don’t have to carry it alone.
Book a free 15-minute call. We’re available weekdays from 11 AM to 11 PM and Saturdays from noon to 6 PM.
