Before Your Call
Questions people ask first.
Is the first call really free?
Yes. The Let’s Talk call is 15 minutes with a therapist at no cost, so you can ask questions and see if it’s a good fit before you book a session.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book with us directly. If your care is through your auto insurer, we’ll ask for your claim details and handle the paperwork with your insurer.
What do I need for a virtual session?
A private space, a phone or computer with a camera, and a steady internet connection. Headphones help. If home isn’t private, a parked car works well. Please never join a session while driving.
Can I choose my therapist?
Yes. You can book with a specific therapist, or tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll suggest a match. If it doesn’t feel right, you can switch.
What if it’s an emergency?
We’re not a crisis service. If you’re in danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 9-8-8 any time. See Need help now? for more lines.
Can I bring my insurance details?
Please do. For a collision, have your collision date, claim number, insurer and adjuster or case manager’s contact ready. For workplace benefits, check what your plan covers; see Fees and Insurance.
Need Help Now?
If you’re in crisis, don’t wait for a session.
Bethesda Therapy isn’t a crisis service. These lines are free and open 24 hours a day.
